Adamastor, a mythological figure created by Portuguese poet Luiz de Camões in 1572, represents the Cape of Good Hope. This mythical monster challenged Portuguese sailors on their voyages to India. Today, Adamastor symbolizes the challenges of the sea and nature’s power, and of course, untamable sea spirit.
Adamastor Swim was born from a deep love for the ocean and a desire to help people feel safe and confident in open water.
Ricardo, founder and coach, is an experienced open water swimmer and ocean safety specialist, with years of practice in the waters of the Algarve and the Azores.
It’s an experience of self-discovery and well-being, in a calm and natural environment.
We believe the sea is not an obstacle, but a teacher.

Ricardo, also known as “El Professor” or “The Captain,” is a pioneer swimmer in the Algarve. Born in 1980, his love for the sea, sea creatures, and the geology of Portugal is unparalleled.
Barbara was a competitive swimmer on the open waters of Portugal , she learned to swim in her hometown Silves, and her old swim coach says "she is a tough lady, that is always willing to pull a joke or to solve a problem." Currently a 3rd officer on Cruise ships , in her free time, swimming is the way to go. Come and swim with her in Algarve or Açores Islands.
